Arts

The Art program encourages students to express themselves by utilizing their artistic and creative talents. The program emphasizes the elements of art, artistic perception, art history and appreciation and aesthetics, as well as ways of integrating visual and creative thinking. All students from K through 8th Grade are scheduled for one art period per week. Students learn how to use a variety of media, techniques, and styles effectively. All of the unique and expressive artwork of our students is proudly displayed throughout the art room and the school building.

A message from our Art teacher:

Welcome to the Art Program at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Academy. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and give you a brief overview of our Art Program.

My name is Ms. Marina D’Andrea and I have been the art teacher here since 2006. I truly enjoy teaching visual arts at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Academy and look forward to working with your children. The Art Program encourages students to express themselves by utilizing their artistic and creative talents.

I emphasize the elements of art, artistic perception, art history and appreciation, aesthetics as well as ways of integrating visual and creative thinking. All students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade are scheduled for one art period per week. Students learn how to use a variety of media, techniques, and styles effectively in works of art. All of the unique and expressive artwork of our students is proudly displayed throughout the Art Room and the school building.

The Art Room has its own computer and the use of iPads. The students can view artwork from famous artists as well as create with technology. Many of the art lessons are integrated with classroom curriculum. Our school participates in the Arts in Residency Program, several art contests and church celebrations throughout the year.

The Art Program is beautifully showcased in the Annual Art Auction. We believe art serves as an important tool that fosters a child’s artistic growth, self expression and esteem.
