Religious Education News

A very generous parishioner donated a beautiful handmade Altar to the Religious Education Program. It is currently on display in the Academy auditorium. The story behind the wood crafted piece is amazing. In October of 1995, Pope John Paul II was scheduled to visit the seminarians at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. The Pope’s security detail included bomb sniffing dogs who were also trained to identify human life in the midst of earthquake wreckage, collapsed buildings and other disasters. As the Pope entered the building, the dogs went through the halls and the pews in the chapel. Upon reaching the Tabernacle, the dogs sniffed and whined and refused to leave. They were certain they found someone there. They were correct-they found a real living person in the Tabernacle!
